Our Institution's Values: Fall 2024, September 24, 2024
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about our institution’s values: Curiosity, Creativity, Character and our Shared Humanity. We don’t talk about them enough. As you go about your workday, I encourage you to keep these values in mind by asking simple questions like “why?” and “who?” Do you ever wonder why we do things a certain way, or do you do them because it’s what we’ve always done? Do you wonder if there is a better way?
Empowering Excellence: 2024 Kickoff, January 29, 2024
The start of a new year always brings a sense of hope and optimism for the coming year. As we navigate through the spring semester, I continue to be incredibly grateful to work alongside each of you to support our university’s mission, and I am consistently struck by the genuine care and passion for student success and life-changing discovery that all of you possess.
Thank You, October 13, 2023
Every day, you strengthen the university through the countless hours you put in toward advancing our land-grant mission, and you help to foster a sense of purpose, belonging and safety among every student, faculty and staff member, and visitor that steps foot on campus. Your commitment to the U of A enables our students to thrive and our employees to accomplish purposeful work. Thank you for everything you do.
Reflecting on Three Years at the University of Arkansas, June 30, 2023
I recently celebrated three years leading the Division of Finance and Administration at the University of Arkansas. Throughout my tenure, I’ve been – and continue to be – incredibly grateful to work alongside each of you to support our university’s mission, especially amid the challenges we’ve faced together.
Recapping the Investiture and Developing our Data Strategy, April 24, 2023
While working through the 150 Forward strategic planning process with Dr. Robinson, it’s been clear that we have an immense opportunity to lead important initiatives that have a lasting impact for the people, communities and world our university serves. The chancellor’s impassioned speech perfectly captured what we hope to accomplish through the strategic planning process. He said, “I am here counting on you to not only help me continue building on these important past successes, but to further transform our beloved institution into the preeminent land grant that lifts while it rises, strengthens while it builds, trains while it educates, and empowers while it inspires.”
Enhancing the University’s Status as an Employer of Choice, March 15, 2023
All of us play a critical role in helping the university become an employer of choice. To make our workplace one of the best in the region and across higher education, we will depend on the collective ideas and feedback of our entire campus community, as well as individual teams and relationships that create positive experiences for each of our faculty and staff members.
Our Role in Advancing Student Success, Feburary 23, 2023
During the most recent 150 Forward town hall, I was reminded of the critical role each of our team members plays in advancing student success – no matter which unit you’re in. As Chancellor Charles Robinson said, “Everything you do today has an impact on tomorrow.
Happy Holidays, December 15, 2022
Even amid the uncertainty we all felt in 2022, and really since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, you have made significant strides to support our students, researchers, faculty and staff. Because of each of you and your hard work, our campus is an even better place to study and work, and the U of A’s service to our state and society are more impactful as a result.
