Building on Success: Advancing Our Mission in 2025
With the first month of 2025 nearly behind us, I’m reflecting on the divisional leadership meeting I held in December to define our priorities going forward. We introduced a new mission, vision and core values for our organization and identified five strategic objectives: Actionable Data and Information, Analysis of Operations, Enhancement of Business Processes, Collaboration and Strategic Planning, and Employee Development and Compliance. I appreciate the contributions from our leadership groups who attended the meeting and I hope it helps align your work with the goals our division intends to achieve this year as you communicate them throughout your team.
We have many success stories to be proud of from 2024 and strive to accomplish much more this year, but reaching our goals is only possible by working together toward our shared purpose to serve our students, employees and visitors to the best of our ability. Please take a moment to think about how many people your work touches along the way and the cohesiveness it takes to ensure we operate successfully.
Over the past year, your contributions have enabled the U of A to reach new heights in enrollment, student retention rates, scholarship allocations and research investments – just to name a few. Thank you for your hard work to maintain the infrastructure that allows our university to cultivate life-changing discoveries and educational opportunities. We still have a lot ahead of us, and our goal to exceed the expectations of our campus partners is never finished. I’m excited to build upon those achievements this year as we continue finding ways to support our people at a higher level year after year. Let’s raise the bar and do even more than we’ve done in the past.
Throughout the spring semester and into this summer, I look forward to transforming our digital service delivery strategies, establishing our campus real estate support function, developing more efficient business processes, and envisioning the future of our campus space, along with numerous other projects on the horizon. Most of all I’m eager to see us learn something new about each other every day and ask questions that help us understand the bigger picture within our division.
As we interact with our campus partners, I encourage us to take a step beyond providing the information, data and resources they need – but also explain what it means, why it benefits them and how they can leverage it to improve the U of A experience for everyone. Let’s do our best to anticipate questions before they are asked and use our collective knowledge to guide them in the right direction so they can make informed decisions.
Thank you again for all you do and for your dedication to our campus community. Let’s keep our momentum going through the rest of this year.
