Enhancing the University’s Status as an Employer of Choice
March 15, 2023
I’d like to invite you to join our third 150 Forward town hall from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 17 in the E.J. Ball Courtroom at the School of Law, or on YouTube. We’ll be discussing our strategic priority to enhance the university as an employer of choice.
All of us play a critical role in helping the university become an employer of choice. To make our workplace one of the best in the region and across higher education, we will depend on the collective ideas and feedback of our entire campus community, as well as individual teams and relationships that create positive experiences for each of our faculty and staff members.
With Margaret Sova McCabe serving as the moderator, I will be joined by Chancellor Charles Robinson, Chief People Officer Michelle Hargis Wolfe, Provost Terry Martin and Vice Provost Anna Zajicek to discuss what it means to be an employer of choice. In addition to answering questions submitted to feedback@uark.edu and those we receive in the room, we will also cover key projects to support this strategic priority – including, but not limited to: the staff classification and compensation project, employee value proposition, flexible work schedules, making your day work (with an enhanced user experience on our enterprise system) and other factors like benefits, talent development and performance management.
Personally, I’d love to hear both what you love about working at the U of A and where we have opportunities to improve. To become the employment destination we strive to be, it will require us to both build on our strengths and address potential barriers to attracting and retaining top talent.
I look forward to the conversation and hearing from our campus community. More than that, I am eager to continue working together to lay the foundation to be an employer of choice now and 150 years from now.
Ann Bordelon
Executive Vice Chancellor
Division of Finance and Administration
