Check Cashing Policy

General Information

The University of Arkansas Fayetteville restricts the exchange of personal checks for cash as a matter of cost controls. The University recognizes that on-campus students, defined as students living in University Housing, may need limited check cashing privileges. To meet this need, on-campus students may cash their personal checks at the Cashier’s Office in the Arkansas Union for up to $30 per day. Students must be currently enrolled and be current on their account with the University. No other office on campus is authorized to cash checks.

Offices may accept personal checks for payments of amounts due to the University for items such as tuition, fees, tickets, books, professional services, merchandise, etc. In no case shall any office accept personal checks from faculty, staff, students, or visitors in excess of the amount due.

Any exceptions from this policy must have the explicit approval of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Financial Affairs or his designee.
